A 400-plus acre reservoir formed in the 1860s when the Hamilton Woolen Company dammed the Quinebaug River, straddling Holland, Massachusetts and Union, Connecticut. Most shoreline is private, lined with lakefront homes and a water-skiing club with a show team, but the town maintains public boat launches on the north and south sides for fishing, paddling, and boating.

Not at a public beach; there isn't one on this lake. The shoreline beaches are deeded for lakefront property owners. Holland's public swim beach is on the separate Lake Siog / Holland Pond, not on Hamilton Reservoir.
