The town-side piece of the newly protected Sarah Cowls Forest at Pelham Hills, a 1,094-acre contiguous block spanning Pelham and Shutesbury that Kestrel Land Trust and The Trustees of Reservations placed under conservation restriction in late 2025. Former W.D. Cowls Inc. timberland, it is now managed for old-growth conditions with no active logging, and it carries public access to sections of the Robert Frost Trail and the New England Scenic Trail.
