Twinings Pond is the largest of a cluster of kettle ponds in South Orleans, ringed by woods that the Orleans Conservation Trust has been protecting parcel by parcel since the 1990s. A roughly one-mile loop trail climbs and drops through the hills around it, past elevated pond views, a small Atlantic white cedar swamp, and water clean enough that otters have been seen along the banks.
