One of the most photographed ocean beaches on the Outer Cape, reached by a steep 50 to 70 foot dune path down from the Long Nook Road lot. There's no lifeguard, so swimmers should watch conditions before going in, but the scenery keeps the small 60-space lot filling early on clear summer days.

Common questions
Is Long Nook in Truro open today?
Open, no advisory on record in the latest MA DPH posting (updated 2026-07-16). MA DPH is the authority. Check the status the morning you go.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
No, the only way to the sand is a steep 50-70 ft unpaved path down the dune; there's handicap parking at the lot but no beach wheelchair or ramp here (those are at Corn Hill and Head of the Meadow instead).
Only a portable toilet at the lot, and only in-season; there's no restroom on the beach itself.
When should I arrive to get a spot?
Before 9am is safest; the lot gets difficult after about 11am on clear summer days, and arriving after 4pm also works if a sunset walk is the goal.
Is there parking at Long Nook, and what does it cost?
Free lot (Free with sticker; no daily option). Long Nook Rd lot
What rules should I know at Long Nook?
No lifeguard on duty; ongoing dune erosion has affected the access path and parking-lot layout. No alcohol or glass at any time; no beach fires; no ORV access; nudity and dune climbing prohibited.
