A small, rocky walk-in beach beside the Old Scituate Light and the Maritime & Irish Mossing Museum, known locally as Museum Beach. There's no parking lot here at all, so it draws fewer crowds than the town's other beaches even though it sits right in the harbor village.

Common questions

Is Scituate Light in Scituate open today?
Open, no advisory on record in the latest MA DPH posting (updated 2026-07-16). MA DPH is the authority. Check the status the morning you go.
Is this the same place as "Museum Beach"?
Yes. Massachusetts DPH's beach-monitoring program lists this location as "Scituate Light" (its official water-quality testing name), while the Town of Scituate's own beach guide calls it "Museum Beach" - both describe the same small, rocky, walk-in-only beach off Jericho Road near the Old Scituate Light and the Maritime & Irish Mossing Museum. There is no separate, third "Scituate Light Beach."
Is there parking at Scituate Light / Museum Beach?
No direct parking lot - the town's own sheet describes it as "accessible by walking" only; nearby gift shops, a general store, and restaurants are within walking distance.
What rules should I know at Scituate Light?
No glass containers on the beach or in beach parking lots. No littering or dumping of household trash; all beach refuse must be removed by the user. No dogs (leashed or unleashed) 10am-6pm, June 15-Sept 15; leashed required at all other times.
